As I sit here on this cold day, I am thinking about warmth, sunshine and outdoor activities. Of course, our Annual Meeting on August 4-6, 2016 at the Omni Homestead will have all of that and more. I hope you have already put it on your calendar.
Our Association has been around since 1886, and you will not find a finer group of men and women who are part of our membership. It may be considered “old school” but I am a fervent believer in the importance of camaraderie of bar associations like ours. This profession is difficult, but it is often the personal relationships that make it memorable and fun. All of our meetings provide great CLE, but more importantly it gives each of us the opportunity to socialize with other lawyers and judges from all over the state. Oftentimes, lifelong friendships are formed at our meetings. If that is “old school” I proudly plead guilty.
I am humbled to be serving as President of this organization. It is my goal to make this year’s Annual Meeting a springboard for expansion of our membership and a renewal of the reasons this Association was formed. I look forward to seeing all of you in the coming weeks and months.
